Fashion. It’s fun…or at least it should be. One of my favorite things about it is how old trends come back around and are given new life. I honestly feel like an actress at times, when a vintage style comes back “in” and I get to wear it; like I’m playing the part of someone from that particular era. It is just plain fun and feeds into my romantic, history-loving spirit. With that in mind, I am fully embracing some of this season’s trends.
Well, it’s here, fashion’s favorite season…fall. Instead of celebrating by kicking it off with a fashion forward, Paris Fashion Week worthy look, I put something deliciously “basic” together. I couldn’t bring myself to wear Uggs for a shoot, I tried but I just couldn’t do it; and the Starbucks drink is in fact a Caramel Apple Spice, not the famed PSL because, well…I think they taste like crap.
Here it is, my first post re-capping our time in Paris! It is going to take a very long time to share everything from that trip but that is okay! It means I have a ton of content and information to share with you.
It’s hard to constantly keep up with caring for your skin amiright? As a mother, wife, business owner, friend, leader, cook, life organizer and housekeeper…its even harder. I also find that amid my busy schedule, it is difficult to carve out down time for “me”.
You might ask yourself, “What on earth possessed her to take two very young children to New York City?”
Well, I’ll tell you…they did. If you’ve seen The Secret Life of Pets, then you know it is set in “The Big Apple”. Judah and Aya watching that movie started a barrage of questions about New York which Sam and I were happy to answer and they haven’t stopped asking to visit since.
Seriously, a lot of thinking. I have had five months to think. That is a long time. It is a long time to not be working. A long time to not be blogging. A long time to think. If you have no idea what I am talking about, I’ll catch you up to speed…
If you’ve followed my blog for a while, you probably noticed that I stopped posting in March. I have not published a blog post of any kind since March.
It is officially spring! That means that this is the last of my “Spring Refresh” installment. The snow here in Denver is starting to melt off and the sun has come back out to play. I, on the other hand, have been spending the last few days seriously editing my closet in preparation for spring. I love being organized. Unfortunately my INJF personality causes me to be simultaneously organized and messy in various ways.
With this weekend officially being spring, I’m excited to “re-set” and prepare for warmer weather. Makeup trends are fun to explore with the change of a season but the foundation to a fresh and beautiful face is your skin. As the weather changes, so does my skin, and I love preparing it to looks (and feel) its best. Here are four of the products I will be using a lot of over the next few days to prep my skin for spring.
It snowed today. Cold, wet, sticky snowflakes slowly fell to the ground and accumulated in wet slush. It was pretty, and bone chilling, and made me ache for spring. The silver lining to days like this is that I get to wear some of my winter outfits that I “ran out of time for”. This look is one that I have been wanting to share for a while and today did offer me an opportunity; which I seized without hesitation.
This is my third installment of my Spring Refresh guide and the last one dealing with fashion. From here on out, my remaining Spring Refresh posts will include topics like beauty and organizing (yay!) Before we move on though, I have to share one of my favorite pieces for spring…flared pants. Specifically denim, but it looks great in a pair of black or patterned pants as well. I do think a basic blue denim wash is a staple for spring though.
