As the days start to warm up a bit I am drawn evermore to spring colors. When Shabby Apple asked me to pick out a dress of theirs…I knew I wanted something bright and cheery. It doesn’t get cheerier than a pale lemon dress. I am sometimes intimidated to wear yellow but when I do I am reminded that it is a fabulous color. I think the pattern of this dress really helps break up the color and adds more interest while keeping the yellow from being overpowering. Every color is wearable and there are many tricks that can help you find the right way to wear any hue.
While the days are warming up, we did this shoot in the morning and it was quite chilly…hence the extreme case of goose bumps I have going on, haha. Keeping it real.
I love that the pattern has white in it…made it so easy to wear with my ivory coat.
I would have loved to wear a pair of white pumps with this dress but I’m currently saving up to get them as I don’t have any. So…I chose my never fail fall-back…nude heels.
The movement from the flounce of this dress makes it so fun to wear.
This dress is constructed very well for bringing in the waist. They created a thick “band” around the waist with seams which is incredibly flattering.
The shape of this dress will look good on everyone. There are some really fun twists on a classic dress shape. The color and print remind me of the colors and patterns worn in the 50’s and you know how I love a great retro inspiration. Another thing about this dress I enjoyed is the fact that while it is fitted, it isn’t too tight. It looks great on and feel great. I hate feeling like I have squeezed into something but I also hate feeling like my shape is lost in a dress…neither of those were a factor here.
As I mentioned in the Q & A post, a small pattern is typically more flattering than a large pattern (although I don’t limit myself with either). This is a great example of how a small pattern is a lovely choice for wearing all over.
This look would be perfect for any Spring soiree’. I’m envisioning a friend’s baby shower or tea at the tea house. I know it can be challenging to find pretty Easter dresses that feel grown up and this would be perfect for Easter as well!
I have enjoyed Shabby Apple for a while now and was thrilled when they asked me to share one of their pieces with you. They have so many beautiful things and they are at great price points, especially for quality made dresses.
They are graciously giving away a $50 gift card to one of my readers!
