The Duster Cardigan

On our last day in New York City, the hubby and I decided to do a little exploring at The Highline. We only had a couple of hours before we had to head to the airport to catch our flight home but we made them count by checking out this great new spot of the city. Since our next stop was a long flight home, I made sure I was comfortably dressed. The two key pieces in this look I purchased on major discount during the Nordstrom Anniversary Event in the fall. It is always a little challenging shopping sales like it because I’m trying to predict what I will actually get the most use out of…I’m happy to say I have worn both this blanket scarf and this gray duster cardigan more times than I can count. They have definitely become wardrobe staples of mine!

Being bundled up in a cozy scarf on a crisp, chilly day is really a wonderful feeling…which is probably why my scarf collection is as large as it is! Not to mention, scarves are a simple way to glam up an outfit.

One of my favorite things about the city? Views like these.

The Highline was such a cool spot. We stopped in at the Chelsea Market for lunch. There was a delightful wine bar there that had small plates that were incredible! I can’t pass up a great cheese plate or burrata!

A duster cardigan like this is perfect for so many aspects of life. I wear it over a tee shirt for trips to the grocery store and for jet-setting for work. It’s exaggerated length makes it extra chic without being over the top. It is something anyone of any age can wear wonderfully. Find one in a basic color that will pair well with your tanks and tees and you’ll be able to mix and match it. You can dress it up with dark jeans, heels, and statement jewelry or wear it casually, like I have here, with thick leggings, a white tee, flats, and a scarf.

I love a cardigan like this worn over a dress with a belt as well…that’s a great way to really look like you know what your doing with fashion, even if you’re just a beginner!

When shopping for a sweater like this, there are many options at affordable stores just be sure to purchase one in a natural fiber…it will look much nicer than a cheap fabric which looks…well cheap. Stores like Forever 21 and H&M are great options for pieces like this, but do watch out for the fabric so you can look as polished as possible.
