I have a few favorite ways to make an outfit more visually interesting and one of them is texture. There are various ways to incorporate texture for all seasons but when its cold outside I love a textured sweater. Cozy and fun, they instantly add depth and detail to a look. It doesn’t get much easier than throwing on a sweater. I always recommend spending your time shopping for the right pieces so that you don’t have to spend your time trying to figure out what to wear each day.
I love the simplicity of this look. When you have great pieces in your wardrobe to build from, its easy to put an outfit together. I’m just wearing a sweater, denim, heels, and a bag and it looks “put together” and thought out. It becomes simple to accomplish this when you have wearable and interesting pieces in your closet.
I purposefully mixed varying shades of black and cream. The variety of shades complement each other without being “matchy-matchy”. For example, the cream in my heels is a little darker than the cream of my sweater and
Can we just take a moment to talk about this location?! It is the Cooper Lounge at Union Station the reigning inspiration for my house right now. I adore the mix of old and new, vintage and moder, victorian and mid-century. And the colors…perfection.
Black and white (and various shades thereof) is the perfect color combination to fall back on for any occasion. It is elegant, simple, and classic. If every you don’t know what to wear…go with white and black.
A positive to textured sweaters is, because they are trending, you can find really affordable options. I found this sweater on sale for less than $20. That is a GREAT price for a quality sweater!
Textured sweaters are great for adding depth underneath a blazer or leather jacket. Swap it out with the standard white tee beneath a brown or black leather jacket or a denim jacket for an instant update on a classic look. A sweater like this would also look great with a classic pencil skirt for the office but I think I’ll wear it next with an a-line mini skirt and black ankle boots. So many options!
This trend might be a little different from anything you’ve tried before but it is one I guarantee you’ll like if you try. I am VERY selective with what trends I fully embrace and spend money on; this one is very stylish and, I think, a lot of fun.
